Ashley Adaniya has strong Rochester, NY roots, having been born and raised here. After high school she attended culinary school at The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago, Le Cordon Bleu Program. It was after college at the acclaimed Mobil 5 star restaurant Trio in Evanston, Illinois where she learned about the art of fine dining and service.
When the restaurant closed its doors in 2006 Ashley and her husband landed in Honolulu, Hawaii where they opened a gourmet hot dog “stand” called Hanks Haute Dogs with her father-in-law. Ashley says that building both recipes and a brand from the ground up was a great learning experience for her. The shop was eventually featured on Food Network shows Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, Unique Eats and also Man vs. Food.
After her first daughter was born, Ashley felt her home calling. She missed Rochester and returned in 2010 where she worked for Wegmans-Next door bar and Grill, working most stations in the kitchen. Becoming more involved with the local scene, she decided to try her hand at her own business featuring products mostly procured from the Rochester area. Blend Catering Company was formed serving upscale parties out of a small store front in Irondequoit. Ashley also worked briefly at Flour City Bread Co in the Public Market learning about the amazing technique and craft it takes to produce real baked goods.
Ashley has strong Hart’s Local Grocers roots too, having been with us since we opened in 2014. She is passionate about creating delicious, healthy, real food and sharing it with others and is making some exciting additions to our culinary offerings.
Next time you’re at Hart’s, stop by our new grab and go area with different “stay fresh” packaging, more packed out meals, and more samples. Soon you’ll also see a new cafe menu featuring a vegetarian meat option on the breakfast menu, grain bowls featuring delicious proteins, veggies and grains, a new catering menu and more.
In addition to everything new happening in our kitchen, Ashley has created a special catering menu for the new Arbor Loft: Downtown opening above Hart’s in June 2o16, owned and operated by full-service event planning and fashion consulting company Agathi & Co. The space will provide a one-of-a-kind event experience with white walls, wood floors, exposed beams, rustic charm and the option to have all of the food you love from Hart’s!
