Introducing Rosie

January 21, 2015

rosie-face

Meet Rosie, our first virtual employee.

Smart. Friendly. Responsive. Things every new hire should be. So, when Hart’s started planning to offer online shopping—with in-store pickup and home delivery—Rosie turned out to be a perfect match.

Who? Rosie. The affectionately named digital shopping platform Hart’s launched today. Created by a whip-smart team of Ithaca developers, Rosie lets you order groceries from your smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer. You click, we bag, and your order is waiting for you at Hart’s. (And come February 4, city residents within our growing coverage area can have their order delivered right to their door!)

The way people live and work has changed. We get that.

You’re busier. More connected. So we have to be, too. Because Hart’s commitment to personal attention and joyful shopping isn’t about us—it’s about you.

We’ve been preparing and training for this new service for weeks. Making Rosie a full-fledged member of the Hart’s team. And now we’re ready to rock.

So, how does it work?

You can shop from your browser, or download the app for Android or iPhone. Follow the simple instructions, register as a customer, add items to your cart, and place your order. Rosie is so smart, you can even specify which items you’re okay having substituted—in case something’s temporarily out of stock. Or give us special instructions (“I want my cheese sliced wafer thin!”), just like you would when you’re with us in person.

Next, tell us whether you’re picking up your order in the store or having it delivered to your home:

  • In-store pickup—Pickup times from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. You can pick up your order the same day if you order at least four hours before your pickup time. The fee? Just $1.99, with a minimum order of $30.
  • Home delivery—Starting Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, delivery will be available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Same-day delivery is available if you order your groceries online four hours before the delivery time. The delivery fee starts at $3.99, depending on your distance from the store, with a minimum order of $30.

Some days, you have too much on your to-do list. Other days, you’re comfy and cozy at home and you’d rather not venture out. With Rosie on the Hart’s team, you don’t have to.

Ready to give online grocery shopping a try? Hop over here for all the details. And say hello to Rosie.

Bloomberg Businessweek declared that “2014 is the year of the online grocer.” We aim to make 2015 the year of you.

  • A great help for everyone. And a compassionate bonus for the sick, the disabled, and the elderly. Thanks, Hart’s.

  • Such a fabulous service! My aunt and uncle in their 90’s live at 1600 East Ave and dear friends at 1400 East Ave. Knowing how sharp and swift your amazing team is, you probably have done this, but, I wonder if they would allow you to leave literature there about this great service you are offering. I can’t I imagine the residents not taking advantage of this!! Love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sharon

  • I’m looking forward to this. I’m a senior who has health problems, and having a delivery service will be very helpful when I can’t make it out.
